The hock was good the potatoes and gravy were cold and the red cabbage was room temperature. My wife had the weiener schnitzel with noodles which were mediocre and red cabbage that was so hot she eat it for several minutes. Next my two daughters ordered French onion soup which arrived cold with the cheese unmelted on top. We sent the soup back and it came back lukewarm the second time. I suggested the girls order something else which they did. Mashed potatoes and gravy and French fries. Again the potatoes and gravy were cold. My son ordered the pork sandwich and a cup of French onion soup. The sandwich was subpar and of course the soup was cold. One of the amusing things was that whenever the server brought out a dish she had to ask whose it was even when she carried out the last dish. Overall it was a bad experience from the food to the atmosphere to the staff. I hope the management reads this and improves their restaurant.

My favorite place for breakfast in Park Rapids! Unique German atmosphere and you can't beat the model train! It's seat yourself, but the waitstaff Is usually good.Just be aware they don't take debit cards so you have to dust off the old checkbook or cash.

I got an instant pinch of nostalgia just from the smell, as I come from very German roots. The food is authentic when it needs to be, and just plain good otherwise. Two eggs and toast, $2.95. You can't beat it. Parking is kind of a mess, but you'll figure it out. Lots of different pies available. They looked delicious.

Was found randomly while hungry on a trip from Washington State to Rhode Island which avoided Illinois; the result was lots of two-lane highways in Minnesota, and this charming restaurant I stopped at by impulse due to the billboards, and was thoroughly rewarded. Service was a bit slow, but the lady was having to watch her kid while filling in--this is a small town, family owned restaurant, and it shows it... Which in this case is a very good thing. Traditional recipes, and hearty and filling for exploring the Minnesota backwoods. Truly recommended!

The restaurant also has a pretty good standard menu with daily specials. It can get pretty packed on a Sunday lunch, so be prepared to wait! It sure is worth it though.

I will repost when they open They're OPEN again and everything is great. Stop by for breakfast, lunch, dinner or there fabulous Sunday Brunch/Smorgasbord. Good food in a nice, small town setting

The menu says to add $2.00 for salad bar but they charged us $6.00 each to add the salad bar which is the size of a card table. Great Hot hamburger but hate the surprise charges for a plate of salad.

I visit family in the area every couple of years, and while I'm visiting, at least one Sunday has to be reserved for Schwarzwald's brunch. You have to go in hungry, and you can't leave until you feel at least a little overstuffed. And the spaetzle is unlike any I've seen anywhere else, and it is delicious! I will keep coming here as long as I, and they are still around.
